Lesson Objectives

After completing this tutorial, you will be able to use Microsoft PowerPoint to create effective presentations in an educational environment. This tutorial will teach you the basic features of PowerPoint so that you will be able to create impressive presentations quickly and easily. During this tutorial, which involves a hands-on approach to learning PowerPoint, you will create a presentation for a science class.

Task Objectives

After completing this tutorial, you will know how to perform the following Microsoft PowerPoint functions:

  • Become familiar with the Standard toolbar and the Menu bar
  • Use design templates and common slide layouts
  • Save presentations
  • Enter titles and text in slides
  • Use the Slide Master to modify text and apply it to the entire presentation
  • Insert and re-size graphics
  • Add animation and animation sound to specified slides
  • Successfully run a slide show

Scenario

You are a 9th grade science teacher, and you want to teach your students about the four states of matter. You do not want to teach them about this concept with a standard chalkboard lecture – you want to show them an interesting PowerPoint presentation that will hold their attention and give them an enriching learning experience. They will see graphics, animated slides, and hear entertaining sounds.
